I don’t know about any of you guys, however, I am starting to become a little bit of a lazy person. Healthy eating and keeping an organised health and fitness plan can be well, a bit of a pain in the arse. But for the past few weeks, I have been keeping a log of how I’ve managed to maintain a somewhat healthy lifestyle whilst enjoying the luxury of having a summer without university work.
1. Walking the Dog.
Sorry if you want a pooch but are yet to have a fluffy companion, maybe this is the excuse you need to talk a partner into getting one. But walking your dog is a great way to fitting exercise without even feeling like you are doing anything. Plus I’m sure your pooch will appreciate all the extra exercise!
2. Taking Vitamins
Without knowing it you could be depriving your body of nutrients that you just are not getting from your regular diet. Especially for myself being a Vegetarian, When I first made such a drastic lifestyle change my body did strain at what it was like to not have the vitamins that I was previously getting. Three years on from then and I still make sure to take a daily multi vitamin at the least once a day. Since I am not a dietitian I don’t want to go recommending a bunch of various pills that you should or should not be taking, but I would recommend going to talk to either a DR or Chemist, or even going to a store such as Holland and Barret (if you live in the UK) as the staff have a great amount of knowledge about living a healthy lifestyle.
3. Drinking a Butt ton of Water.
Something which has been drilled into my brain since I was a little girl, was to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. But why is water so important? Well, water essentially fuels and feeds your body, when you are dehydrated your body cannot transport nutrients around as well. Water has a whole bunch of benefits, flushing out bad bacteria, less cranky, preventing headaches, weight loss, and plus better skin, who could say no to having nice skin.
4. Getting Plenty of Sleep
Obviously, it is something well known that you need to aim to get around 6-8 hours of sleep every night. But like the whole deal with water, why is this a thing? Now you know that feeling when you wake up in the morning not having had much sleep and you just feel so groggy and tired still, the first thing your body will want to do as a reaction to this is eat something not exactly good for you to help try and fill up the energy you haven’t gained from not having enough sleep. So help energise your body without having the extra calories and just get some more beauty sleep this evening.
5. Simple exercise routine to do while watching TV / Movies
Something of a bad habit I have gained over the past few years is watching endless amounts of box sets. Whether it’s Rick and Morty, or re watching the entire collection of How I Met Your Mother, I spend hours watching the screen. If your the same as me, I’ve thought of a sneaky trick to help move those extra pounds without having to miss out on catching the latest episode because you have to go to the gym. Normally I will just search on Pinterest to find a cool quick workout that’s easy to repeat sometimes that can be 10x Starjumps, 10x Sit ups etc.
Keeps you busy without having to miss the action.
6. Working out by doing something you enjoy
Finding a form of workout that you actually enjoy doing makes going to workout, not a challenge but just an all round fun activity. It can be Tennis, Running, Dancing. Whatever floats your boat just getting out of the house and trying new things will help you discover what you actually want to do.
7. Following motivational Instagram pages
If you are a social media addict (like myself) maybe sometimes you cannot get yourself away from your phone. Why not fill up your social feeds with motivational imagery and quote pages to keep your head focused! Some pages that I love are, Way of Grey,
8. Drinking Slim Life Tea
