So if you couldn’t tell already, today’s post. Although continuing my day in day out life. We’re officially no longer working from the office, but for the foreseeable future, you’ll find me with my cuppa, sat at my makeshift desk watching rubbish on Netflix.
As I’m sat resting now, my head feels weak. We’re only at the first hurdle, and oh my. Although I’ve managed to maintain an active lifestyle up till now, a frequent gym routine, healthy diet, and all-round feeling good about my wellbeing. I’ve cried countless times, out of fear and confusion. Which isn’t healthy, and needs to change. So I have a plan, but first, what did I get up today.
We were up reasonably early, I wanted to get the ball rolling in the correct way, which in all honesty I failed at. We got up and straight into the car until told otherwise I want to continue going to get my morning coffee and supporting our closest coffee shop. If you have any if all local businesses nearby, please remember at this moment in time, they need your assistance. Whether it’s going out and buying now, delaying rather than cancelling, or even buying gift cards DO IT! I cannot physically preach this enough.
Coffee in hand. We got home and I got straight to work. After 8 whole hours, not moving but getting up to make some lunch. I was proud, I had broccoli and egg, delish and healthy!
Everything went downhill from this point. Mainly this was down to confusion and the overwhelming unknown. I know we cannot get answers, but the little things were building up. Am I returning to work tomorrow? How can we manage to keep my grandparents happy, when they’ll have to be in quarantine? Are they safe?
I cried it out before signing off for the day and getting back into the swing of what’s next.
I and Jess decided that we would go to the supermarket. Well. I am so glad we did, as I needed food in the flat, but it was scary – we could only nervously laugh at the milk aisle. British being typical as always, the shops had no sugar, milk, cereal, loo roll (shock)… OR ANY alcohol. Because of course, if you are going to be stuck in the house for the foreseeable future. Wine and beer is the answer.
I feel like a hypocrite writing that, I am currently sat drinking amaretto and coke as sad as that sounds. But, after today I deserved it.
After receiving possibly our last taste of McDonald’s sweet dippers and diet coke, I’ve come home and just deflated back into my chair and decided right. If this is going to become our lives, I am NOT letting my mental health become one thing that’ll be ruined.
Thankfully, thanks to going to the shops, I will not need to go again now for fingers crossed a week… I’ve even not been able to get fresh veg lol. After this, I text a few of the girls and made arrangements to start going on frequent walks. This way, we can continue to be socially distant from the rest of the world, but keep close contact and getting fresh air. Which is what comes to this.
So, if you are in the same position as me. I am writing the following list of things to maintain even if we end up getting told to quarantine. I’ll be acting as if we more or less had any ways, to help protect the ones I love around me.
- Opening the windows, getting a bit of fresh air.
- Getting up early, making a morning routine.
- Heading out for a little walk/run and getting a coffee.
- Still getting ready as if leaving the house for the day.
- Planning breaks ahead of time, give your brain something to look forward too!
- Keeping active. Going for walks/runs. Doing workouts from your living room. Plenty bloggers including blogilarites have joined in this trend.
- Working in one room, resting in another.
- Keeping away from social media, telephone and other devices as much as possible.
- Ask for help when it’s needed!
- Cooking fresh and organic meals for as long as possible. Although I do love supernoodles.
- Keeping a weekly routine, when it’s the weekend act like it’s the weekend. Remember to relax.
- Living in a clean, airy space.
Phew. I know it’s long, and I’m not saying that to stay on top of this crazy world right now you need to follow every step. It’s about, making those decisions. Which in the long run, are going to help you massively.
As always, here’s the breakdown of my diet for the day. Erm, in all honesty, I have forgotten if this has already been mentioned. At my last weigh-in, I’d reached a -5 lbs loss. I’ll possibly expect that I might gain in the coming weeks. From sitting around, and eating more to just get on with life. I’m gonna try but allow my body to rest if that’s what it needs to relax.
- Granola and Yogurt
- Broccoli and Egg
- Cheese and ‘Ham’ Toastie
- Amaretto & Coke
